ABOUT

We bought our house in the middle of the housing crisis in 2011. As two, twenty-something-recently-married-first-time-homeowners we had no idea what we were in for. We just wanted to get out of our loft apartment and stop writing our rent checks to the building owner’s kids’ trust funds (I wish I was joking about that).

Since then, life has certainly thrown a lot at us (good and not so good), but one thing stays constant, everything comes back to this house and what we’ve made of it.

To us, our 1954 garrison colonial is more than just where we park our cars and hang our keys. It’s a place where we spend time with each other, our family and our friends, which is why we have invested so much into it. We have renovated almost every room in our house (see a complete project list here) and have managed to not kill each other yet – despite what they all say when it comes to living through renovations together.

We have been married for 11 years, together for 16. We both work full-time in sales and marketing. We love to cook. We have been lucky enough to travel. We have also traveled just to eat (we’ve eaten some really tasty things), but at the end of the day – after everything – we’ve learned that we just want to come home.

This blog is about everything that makes up our home (renovations included) and the people that live in it.
